Frequently asked
The questions we get on the phone every week
Straight answers, including the ones that are not what you were hoping to hear. If something is not here, call or text and ask.
Ordering
How do I place an order?
Build the order right here on the site. Pick your piece, your size, your species, and your finish, then check out. A representative will follow up to confirm every detail before anything gets cut.
If you would rather do it by voice, call or text 972-837-6974 and we will take the order that way.
I need help deciding. Can someone walk me through it?
Yes. We have design consultants available by phone, text, or email. Tell us the room, how many people you seat, and what your floors and cabinets look like, and we will narrow it down with you. Email hello@sawwwmill.com or call 972-837-6974.
Do you have a showroom I can visit?
We do, at 4882 CR 3735, Wolfe City, TX 75496. Come see the tables in person, pick your stain, and talk through your vision with the people who will build it. Details and hours are on the visit page.
Anything I discussed by phone, text, or social media, is that on the order?
Only if it is written in the notes at checkout. Anything discussed by phone, text, or social media must be repeated in the notes at checkout. The notes field is what the shop builds from. If it is not there, it did not make it to the bench.
Can I change my order after placing it?
Changes must be requested within 48 hours of placing the order. After that they will be declined, because by then the lumber has usually been selected and cut.
Money
How do I pay?
Payment in full or a 50% deposit to start the build.
We are not taking payment on the website yet. After you place the order we confirm the build with you and arrange payment when we call.
Can I get a refund?
Custom and special orders are not refundable, and all sales are final, including deposits. Everything we make is built to order for one household, in one set of dimensions, in one finish. There is no shelf to put it back on. Full detail on the refund policy page.
Are there extra charges for staining?
Sometimes. Extra charges apply only for specific stain options, for distressing, and for fully stained chairs as opposed to paint-and-stain combinations. Standard stains on a standard build carry no upcharge.
Can you rush my order?
Often, for a fee between $250 and $750 depending on what it takes to move you up the queue. Immediate turnaround is not always possible, because the kiln and the finish schedule set a floor we cannot go under. Ask and we will tell you honestly what is achievable.
Time, delivery, and storage
How long will my piece take?
Our waiting list generally runs 4–10 weeks. These are purely estimates and vary with the queue and the volume of orders in front of you. We will not promise a date we cannot hold.
Can you hold my furniture until I am ready for it?
No. We cannot hold or store furniture once your confirmation is received and production begins. We reach out before production to confirm the details and that you are ready to receive it. That is the moment to tell us if your timing has changed.
How does delivery work?
Curbside freight to the 48 contiguous states, inside local delivery within Texas, or pickup at the shop. Costs, timings, and what you are responsible for are laid out on the shipping and delivery page.
The wood itself
Will my piece look exactly like the photo?
No, and that is the point. Every piece of wood is different and every board stains slightly differently. Hand-distressing is unique to each piece. We cannot guarantee your product looks exactly like the photo on the website.
No refunds are given for colour variation. If exact uniformity matters more to you than character, handcrafted solid wood is the wrong purchase. Read our cosmetic standard before you order.
What is covered by your warranty?
Our Promise covers manufacturer defects. It does not cover damage from mishandling, and it does not cover natural wood movement caused by changes in temperature or humidity, because solid wood expands and contracts, and that is normal behaviour, not a fault.
What wood do you use?
Red oak, black walnut, and hard maple are our three standard hardwoods. Because we run our own sawmill we can also mill other species on request. See the wood selection page.
