About Frisco
What we see in Frisco houses
Almost everything in Frisco was built in the last twenty five years, and most of it was finished in the same modern farmhouse palette: white cabinets, black hardware, light floors, and a kitchen island the size of a small car.
Open plan two stories with the kitchen, breakfast, and family room running together as one space, twelve to twenty foot ceilings at the back of the house, and very few walls to anchor anything against.
How our work fits
Building for a Frisco room specifically
The same table is right in one house and wrong in the next. This is what we change, and why.
When a house has no walls doing the work, the furniture has to. In a Frisco great room the table is the only thing holding the middle of the floor plan down, so we build it heavier than the room suggests: a thicker top, a wider base, and a species with enough color to stop the whole space from going white on white. A light natural oak table in a white kitchen disappears. A warm stained oak or a walnut gives the room a center.
Eight to ten foot tops
Open plans need length, and Frisco rooms have it.
Warmer stains against white cabinetry
So the table anchors the room instead of vanishing into it.
Matching island tops and tables
One species running through the kitchen reads as intentional.
Worth asking in Frisco
Is there a tree on the property?
If one came down in a storm, or one is coming out for a pool or an addition, we would rather look at the log than hear it went to the chipper. Bring it to our mill and we saw it, dry it in our kiln, and build it into the piece for the house it grew beside. Send us a photo first and we will tell you if there is a table in it.
